Mission Accepted......!

So this is a race with a difference.

Firstly everyone knows about 9/11 but not everyone knows about the Stephen Siller foundation. Stephen Siller was a fireman who lost his life saving others during this catastrophic event and this charity is run by his family in memory of him to support others who are suffering.

The runners on the day consisted of emergency response crews local communities and a number of elite runners taking part in the Vertical World Circuit (VWC) tour.

As you can imagine security was tight and an early wake-up call was required but this was not a problem. The sunrise at the top would be well worth the effort.

Fierce competition.

As this was a bonus points race the competition was high.

On the male side Piotr Łobodzinski from Poland finished first and set a new course record with a time of 12:05. Emanuele Manzi from Italy was the runner-up clocking 12:41 and third in 13:04 was Spain’s Ignacio Cardona.

For the ladies it was Suzy Walsham from Australia who took the winner’s crown. Even with an injury she managed to finished in 13:50, 5th overall and only six seconds slower than her own course record.

Second was Brooke Logan, also from Australia, in a time of 15:43 with and Shari Klarfeld completed the podium with 16:05.

Total Motion Towerrunners on tour (again!)

For the Total Motion Towerrunners GB team, David Harris finished in 13th place with a PB of 16:50 whilst Sonja Shakespeare once again smashed her PB with a time of 18:59.

David and Sonja - mission completed!

There were smiles all round and even a marriage proposal at the top of the tower (not us this time!) to complete a memorable morning. The full list of results can be found here.

Next up on the Vertical World Circuit: Manila on the 8th July!
